Thought For The Day

I Have Been Thinking

I found this article in my archives. Since we are talking about list building I thought this would be a good time to post it.  I don’t even know if Ken Hill is still working, but the information contained in this article is still applicable. There is one point however about swapping recommendations. With FTC rules changing  be sure that any recommendation you give can be verified, and any recommendations you accept for publication can be verified.  There was a time when testimonials were written without proof of authenticity.

7 Sure Ways To Grow Your Ezine Subscriber List
by Ken Hill

1. Swap an ad for your ezine.

Use testing and tracking to show you which ads are best to use in your swaps and also which ezines pay off the best for you.

2. Swap a “thank you” page recommendation.

Your swap will give you excellent long term promotion of  your ezine.

You’ll also be able to build up your readers’ trust in your recommendations because they’ll see that the ezine you endorsed delivers great content.

3. Write articles.

Your articles will boost your credibility, and you’ll be able to attract more people to your site and ezine that are interested in what you have to offer.

4. Offer a free ebook for subscribing.

You could create an ebook that deals with a topic your target audience is interested in such as copywriting or ezine promotion.

You could also offer an ebook that is simply a collection of promotional resources. For example, places where your new subscribers can submit their articles for free.

5. Have your readers forward your issues.

You’ll get excellent word of mouth advertising as your  readers email your issues to their friends, associates, and colleagues.

If you publish your ezine on your site, use a “refer a friend” script to have your readers recommend your ezine.

6. Submit your ezine to ezine directories.

In your submissions, stress the benefits of joining your ezine, and when applicable, include your links to your archive and sample issue.

7. Promote your ezine in your signature file.

Turn your visitors that email you with their questions into new subscribers.

Also use your signature file in your posts to forums that you’re a member of.

If you offer relevant tips and advice, their members will  begin to view you as an expert, and you’ll be able to successfully increase your subscriptions.

Ice Breakers

The Writer

Once upon a time there was a young man who
wanted to become a great writer. “I want to
write things the whole world will read,”
he declared.

“Stuff that will elicit strong emotions from
people in every walk of life. I want my writing to
make them scream, cry, howl in pain and
anger.”

He now lives happily ever after in Redmond,
Wash., writing error messages for Microsoft.

 Tip

Perform regular back ups of your data. How often should you back up?  Think about how much data you are willing to lose.  One of the most devastating effects of computer security breaches in the loss of data, particularly when a virus or worm causes data corruption or severe system instability. Even if you are diligent about protecting your computer with regularly updated security software and a firewall, you can’t  be sure that  an attack won’t harm your data. It seems that there are crackers always working to find new methods of destruction that security tools haven’t caught up with.
