Thought For The Day
Everyone wants to change, but change demands desire and discipline before it becomes delightful. There is always the agony of choice before the promise of change.

I Have Been Thinking
Are you connected with a trade group in your industry? When we talk about a niche, we are of course talking about a part of a whole. That whole might be included in two or more industries. Since many of you are trying to “make it” in the Internet Marketing, just how many industries could be involved?
Network Marketing Association
Many groups have developed and grown since the advent of the Internet. A few of them that you may want to take a look at are:
http://www.emarketingassociation.com/
http://www.webmarketingassociation.org/
http://www.marketing.org/i4a/pages/index.cfm?pageid=3377
Of course there is also the Small Business Organization. At http://www.sba.gov/
It is a wise idea to connect yourself with organizations that have your business interest in mind. Regulations are made to help make business honest, maybe. If you want to know how the regulations are going to affect you and your business, then it is the wise entrepreneur that keeps up with what is going on.
Direct Selling Association
At http://www.dsa.org/ the direct selling association, it is possible to keep up with happenings relating to direct sales. If your business is involved with producing a product or moving products made by someone else through your business then you are in the direct selling industry.
Your Special Interests
When you researched your niche, decided on the topic of your niche and the products you are moving through that niche, you have other associations that you might find will be most helpful to you. Because I help people to work with their computer, or help them make the computer do what they want it to, I found it very helpful to associate with software product manufactures. Many product groups will even have local groups to connect with.
If you are a woman and want to connect with business women in your area, look up “business women groups your city and state” Most will even have a website so you can check them out before meeting with them personally.
If you want to improve your salesmanship, there are probably business incubators and SBA groups close by. They are very good to be a part of.
If your business is in the craft and hobby industry, there are stores, warehouse stores business groups online to look into again to make connections and to keep abreast of the changes.
How do you make the decision as to what groups to be part of? Read! Read the purpose, terms of service and privacy policy of the group. Cost will also be a factor. Most of these groups are not free.
The next thing to check is the services you can have as a member. Look to see what events are promoted through the group. Decide what you need or want through a relationship, then investigate to see if you will be able to accomplish that goal through your relationship with the group.

Ice Breakers
Two by Fours
A couple of hillbillies in a pickup truck drove into a lumberyard. One
of them walked into the office and said, “We need some fourby twos.”
The clerk said, “You mean two by fours, don’t you?”
The man said, “I’ll go check,” and went back to the truck. He returned
a minute later and said, “Yeah, I meant two by fours.”
“All right. How long do you need them?”
The customer paused for a minute and said, “I’d better go check.”
After a while, he returned to the office and said, “A long time. We’re
gonna build a house.”

Grandma Wisdom
Having the business edge is important for all business. In any profession, professionals will be required to take classes yearly to keep up a certificate or license. If you consider yourself a professional even if there isn’t required courses or a license, you will want to keep up with changes that will affect your business. We are beginning to hear more and more about regulations where the Internet is concerned, it is vital that you know and protect your interests.
