Thought For The Day
“The borderline between “before Christ” and “after Christ” does not run through historical time….it runs through our own hearts.”
-Pope Benedict XVI
I Have Been Thinking
President FD Rosevelt said of Pearl Harbor, “today is a day that will go down in infamy.” So is it of this generation, Sept 11 will go down in infamy. I always thought it was strange that it would be a 911 call that would wake up Americans.
Apathy about life can be a dangerous place to be. It was apathy that destroyed the earlier great civilizations and it is apathy that can destroy the place we call home.
Apathy can also destroy a business or even closer to home a family. How is apthy defined? It is a lack of caring, but goes even deeper. Someone who is in a state of apathy can refuse to see that which is around him. He is the proverbial guy with his head in the sand. He doesn’t want to see.
We can become so trapped that it feels like we can never get out of the trap, but defining it is the first step in defeating that which is holding us down.
It seems that every time there is a catastrophic event the best in people comes out as was the period following Pearl, or following 9-11. There was tremendous strength shown after Katrina. The strength and ingenuity that is America will again be self evident as this current resession is defeated. Never give up. Think about all the good you can do, then just do it. Nothing changes until someone changes it. Can you possibly be that one?

I Don’t Want to Go
Thanksgiving day was approaching and the family had received a
Thanksgiving card with a painting of a pilgrim family on their way to
church.
Grandma showed the card to her small grandchildren, observing:
“The Pilgrim children liked to go to church with their mothers and
fathers.”
“Oh yeah?” her young grandson replied, “So why is their dad carrying
that rifle?”
Tip
Name something in your life that caused you to be more than you ever believed you could be. Write it on a 3X5 card. Every time you are feeling down or lack power, read it and think about what you did to change.
