| Good Morning! I Have Been Thinking What Do People Skills Have To Do With Consulting In a word, everything! Do you have good people skills? When I think people skills, it think about communication. There are so many ways to communicate by speaking, writing, example, and yes the most important of all listening. There are a good many times when people really don’t want answers given to them, they just want someone to listen. They just want someone to hear what they have to say. As a consultant, no matter what business or industry you consult in you listen to people’s problems with the goal in mind to help find a solution. In our recent goals class we talked about the interview. I pointed out the two goals in an interview one being your goal as the consultant might be to make a sale, secure a job, or present your solutions. The second goal in the interview is your prospects goal. What is it that he is wanting to achieve? What does he want? Of course you have to have a goal for you meeting, but are you thinking first and foremost about your prospective client. Let’s think for a moment that you are working to encourage someone to join you in a venture. Is what you have to say more important than listening to what the guy in front of you wants? Learn to ask good and meaningful questions about what he wants and the sale is half made.
Opportunity is never lost Carolyn A friend and his wife were considering traveling to Alaska “If we decided to live there permanently, away from She replied, “You.” Thought for Today: “He who cannot change the very fabric of his thought will never be able to change reality.”
We have an advantage on the Internet, when we want to know what a person wants, we present it in a form. We already know when the person hands over his name and email address for information, the interest is already there. Happy designing!
