Words To The Wise – Basic Computer Maintainence
Nov 11th 2009cwinsonlineManagement & Organization
Good Morning!
I Have Been Thinking
Sunday night’s conference with Bill Moore was an excellent review of computer resources. Are you maintaining your computer are you not?
Of course there is the recommended security applications to use. We recommend AVG. The free application is excellent. Then there are those applications that help you keep things running smoothly and get rid of the junk footprints left behind when you add and remove programs. We use cCleaner also a free program. We also recommend that you steer clear of all of those programs that will scan your computer for you. Believe me, the price of them is certainly not without cost.
Click on Start then help & support. A World of information will open up for you and also with links to the maintainence applications included with your operating system. Of course many of those you should use regularly you will find by going to Start —> all programs —> Accessories —-> system tools Schedule regular maintainence
Monthly
run the defrag
run cCleaner
Use cCleaner’s facility to update the registry
Daily
update your virus scanner
back up financial data
back up Robo Form or other password information
Weekly or more often
Back up your hard-drive to an external source
There is more that can be done, but this schedule is a bare minimum.

Parking Place
Paddy was driving down the street in a sweat because
he had an important meeting and couldn’t find a parking
place. Looking up to heaven he said, “Lord take pity
on me. If you find me a parking place, I will go to Mass
every Sunday for the rest of me life and give up me Irish
Whiskey!”
Miraculously, a parking place appeared.
Paddy looked up again and said, “Never mind, I found one.”
Thought for Today:
“I gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which I must stop and look fear in the face…I say to myself, I’ve lived through this and can take the next thing that comes along.”
– Eleanor Roosevelt
