Thought For The Day

“Every second we choose to nourish ourselves in a way that supports or depletes our lives, and to think and speak about other people in a way that is honoring or dishonoring. What choice are you going to make today.”
Gregg Braden
Author of The Divine Matrix

I Have Been Thinking

Things, events, occurrences don’t just happen. Everything happens for a reason. Everything happens because of choices we make.

I know you have heard, “evil happens when good people do nothing.”  I want to take this opportunity to tell you a little story. “A young man applied for a job as a farmhand. When the farmer asked for his qualifications, he said, ‘I can leep when th wind blows.’ This puzzled the farmer, but he liked the young man and hired him.

A few days later, the farmer and his wife were awakened in the night by a violent storm. They quickly began to check things out to see if all was secure. They found that the shutters of the farmhouse had been securley fastened. A good supply of logs had been set next to the fireplace, They found that the farm tools had been placed in the storage shed safe from  the elements. The young man slept soundly.”

The farmer then understood the meaning of the young man’s words,’I can sleep when the wind blows.’ Because the farmhand did his work loyally and faithfully when the skies were clear, he was prepared for the storm when it broke. So when the wind blew, he was not afraid and could sleep in peace.

This story illustrates a principle that is often overlooked.  We choose to do or not to do. We choose to look at a wrong and do nothing. We choose to do a job halfway. We choose to always do the work we have to do with the best of our ability.  Habits we develop over a lifetime and made because we choose to do things in the wrong way even though we know the right thing to do.

What may be some of the things that cause accidents?
- distractions
- hunger
- being tired
- anger
- inadequate preparation
- lack of skill
- ignoring a situation

There could be a good many more and they will be different for everyone. Be prepared is more than just a boy scout rule.

Ice Breakers

Burp

Several years ago my family and I were at our attorney’s
office to sign some papers. While we were waiting, the
secretary offered us soft drinks. After a while my son,
about five or six years old, burped rather loudly.

“What do you say?” my wife scolded him.

“I’m not finished yet,” was his reply. After he burped
again, he excused himself.

 Tip

There is no such thing as an accident!  Accidents happen when someone is not paying attention. There is always a cause.
