How Much Time Does it Take?

Good Morning!
I Have Been Thinking

Another big question that often comes up is how much time will it take to build a business on the Internet?

If you are going to be designing your own site, when you first get started you will be spending several hours learning how to use you design tools and getting familiar with how the Internet works.  If you are going to have someone else design the site for you, you will be spending a few hours a week learning about the Internet and Internet Marketing methods.

I recommend no less than 2 1/2 hours daily 5 days a week or about 12 hours total.  Just like an exercise program works better doing a little bit every day than trying to do several hours of exercise one day a week, a little bit of strategic marketing daily will have a better effect overall. A good formula that seems to work for a majority of our students is if you have only 2 1/2 hours a day to spend working your business then at least 50% of that time should be spent promoting that business or your products. So 1 1/4 hours will be spent promoting or prospecting. Spend 30 minutes to an hour daily learning something new. This can be attending a class, reading an eBook,  or a good book.  Spend a few minutes planning both at the beginning and the end of the day.  The more time you have to put in your business, the more time you can spend doing these two things.

For some the answer often is in deciding what needs to be done, setting a timer and focus on getting that action done during the time you have allowed.

 Smoke Detector

One Sunday morning when my son, David, was about 5, we were attending a church in our community. It was common for the preacher to invite the children to the front of the church and have a small lesson before beginning the sermon. He would bring in an item they could find around the house and relate it to a teaching from the Bible.

This particular morning, the visual aid for his lesson was a
smoke detector. He asked the children if anyone knew what it meant when an alarm sounded from the smoke detector.

My child immediately raised his hand and said, “It means Daddy’s cooking dinner.”

Tips Tips and Techniques

Determine 5 to 10 things to do each day that will do nothing but promote you, your business or your products. 10 minutes of focused promotions will do more for you than hours of scattered attention.

Happy designing!
