I Have Been Thinking

Spring is here, and a time for new beginnings. I understand that at one time in history the springtime was when the new year happened. After the long dead of winter life becomes new, the flowers peek their heads through the snow as green marches further north.

We have a lot to think about this year 2008. There is so much talk about recession. There is the fact that many people across the country (USA) have gambled on the future economy keeping up with the prime rates only to get into a situation where many are losing everything they have worked so hard for.

Falling house prices, a shaky stock market, rising unemployment, increasing fuel costs are all signs of a recession. It’s still debatable if we are in a recession or just a slow down. By the time the numbers are in, we’ll already know. Small business owners feel the pinch first.

How are you feeling about you and your business? I have to say I learned a good many years ago that the only one in the world that I could totally depend on is ME. The honest truth, the only one you have you can totally depend on is You. Can you depend on your ability to ride the storm? Can you batten the hatches to keep everything put? In times like these, it’s time to decide to stay strong or move on. My experience in past recessions, have showed some businesses can thrive while other just don’t have the stick-to-itivness. Let me ask you a question; what have you, Bill Gates and Warren Buffett have in common? Believe it or not, I have already given you the answer.

During this month of April, we will explore the decisions that have to be made, as well as what must be done to get past the slow down.

How’s My Driving?

I decided to stop worrying about my teenage son’s
driving and take advantage of it.

I got one of those bumper stickers that say,

“How’s my driving?” and put a 900 number on it.

At 50 cents a call, I’ve been making $38 a week.
