Thought For The Day

”The time to repair the roof is when the sun is shining.”

– John F. Kennedy

I Have Been Thinking

I sincerely hope that all of you have had as great a holiday weekend as I did. It started out going to the beach in Datona. You should see me, I am as red as I can be every where there is a piece of skin that shows.  Then ended sitting in the rain for two hours waiting for the fire works show to begin. The fire works display was beautiful over the lake.  It was every bit worth the wait. The rain, well it certainly did cool things down.

I can’t do anything about how hot it gets or how much it rains any more than I can do anything about  the setbacks and frustrations that occur when things do go wrong.  I can  take control of my own life and my own response to things that do happen.

What can you do when setbacks occur?

One important thing you can do is make note of what has happened and why it happened. Determine what you could have done to prevent the situation so that you are prepared when it happens again.

Decide or determine what you can do to resolve the situation, then just do it.

Remember this is just one situation, I think we have all heard that maybe we did just lose this battle, but the war is yet to be won. Realize that you can take control even if you cannot control the situation.  I know now in Florida, you don’t go anywhere without head covering. You don’t go anywhere without sun screen and bug spray, and finally you go prepared with rain gear in the trunk of your car.  I saw one family with two umbrellas and a painters plastic tarp set up the umbrellas then stretch the tarp across the two making a fine shelter.

There is a solution somewhere for most things. There are times when the solution is simply to start over. Take stock. Find out what went wrong, the do something different so you have a different outcome.

Weekend Trip

A five year old boy went for a weekend trip with his
grandparents. On the way home, they
stopped at a country restaurant for lunch.

The little boy left the table to use the restroom
by him- self. A moment later he returned with a
confused look on his face. He says, “Grandpa,
am I a rooster or a hen?”

 Tip

” It isn’t how many times you get knocked down that counts, it is how fast you can get back up.” – Ralph Marston  Mr Murphy is always hard at work making sure if it can go wrong, it will so we just need to be a step ahead of him at all times.  Attitude has everything to do with it. Find one thing you can do, then do it cheerfully. When you do this with gladness in your heart all else will just fall into place.
