Thought For The Day

Blessed are those who can give without remembering and take without forgetting.

I Have Been Thinking

An eCourse is a series of articles and tutorials to encourage a student to improve his skills in one or more facet of your niche. E-Courses are a method of delivering content over a period of time. As the name infers the emails delivered have the purpose of not only maintaining communication with a subscriber, but also to help the person doing the course to have increased skills as a result.

Brainstorm

You probably already have a good idea for your eCourse or at least the glimmer of an idea. Over the years, I have actually found it quite helpful to go at this whole process backwards. You would think it best to brainstorm the idea and so it is, the fact that you must crystallize the idea so that you can focus your attention in the direction you want to go is of course important, but even more important what is the end result? What exactly is it that you want your student to take away from your eCourse? When you know the answer to that question the rest is fairly easy.

PLR is a good way to start an eCourse but only if the license allows you to break down the content. It is vital that you always read the terms of the PLR or MRR so you know you can use the material for what you want to use it for.

It might sound strange, but it is even helpful to write your opt-in page before you write the course. With the benefits narrowed down to the nutshell of the optin page, it is easier to concentrate on delivering on the promise.

Outline

How about writing the subject lines for each of the messages in your eCourse. The subject lines of course should indicate the topic of the message and more important the benefit of doing this particular lesson.

  1. What do I want to teach
  2. How can I say it so that it can be understood by everyone reading it
  3. What pages on my web site do I want to emphasize
  4. What products do I want to promote free products and paid products included
  5. What call to action do I want to include in each of the lessons

 Keep Each eMail Short

Long eMails and big blocks of text just don’t seem to get read at all anymore. People are just totally bombarded by so much information that if it isn’t quick and easy to read, they just aren’t going to do it. Break it up in short simple steps to do.

Using a template for your email helps to put in some consistency and let’s your student know what to expect.:
Opening Statement – Tell them what you are going to tell them
Break down the activity into easy steps to do.
Summarize the purpose or product of the lesson and give them a call to action.

I recommend that you write all of your messages first using an application like HTMLKit or a word processor to check your spelling and grammar. If your autoresponder allows you to send in both text and HTML, do both. Give people the choice to receive the messages in both. If you want to include images as part of the tutorial, make them available online instead of in the email. It is much easier to get statical analysis on a web page than it is in your email. Use a tracking code in your autoresponder to track the number of times an email is opened.

Ice Breakers

Airliner in Violent Thunderstorm

An airliner flew into a violent thunderstorm and
was soon swaying and bumping around the sky.

One very nervous lady happened to be sitting
next to a clergyman and turned to him.

“Can’t you do something?” she demanded angrily.

“I’m sorry ma’am,” the reverend said gently,

“I’m in sales, not management.”

Do you remember the cliffhangers? Every one of them ended at a point where you wanted more. You could hardly wait for the next episode. If you can build that into your courses, you stand a better chance of people returning to your site to express more interest in the content or buy from you.
