Thought For The Day
”When I let go of what I am, I become what I might be.”
– Lao Tzu
I Have Been Thinking
Our success depends on only one person – us! Our success is our responsibility. That responsibility can take on several forms.
We have a responsibility for learning. What we think about and what we do with what we have will depend on what we know. Make it a conscious decision to learn and practice what you learn. We have unprecendeted opportunities for learning. The more we learn the more empowered we become. A lifetime of continual learning is not just a nice to but a necessity. The more you learn, the more there is to learn.
Explore the possibilities Take on the challenge to put your creative mind to work. Our freedom to explore new possibilities depends on our willingness to change. It cannot all be done at once. It will only drive you crazy if you try. Find just one thing you want to do or change about yourself then do just that.
In our dreams we all aspire to great things, yet in real life most of us don’t actually do everything we are truly capable of doing. I am willing to bet that if given an invitation to an opportunity to succeed at something there would be at least three reasons why you couldn’t do it. It is built in to our DNA to think of every reason why we cannot, but it takes hard work and dedication to push through and do it anyway.
Fear creates roadblocks and stumbling bloxks and leads us into self-defeating behavior, which in turn produces guilt and anxiety, which can then lead to complete immobilization. To get past it all you have to do is start. The starting of an activity is always the hardest. The most difficult door to open is your own. If we don’t at the very least try, we can never succeed.
Once we take charge of our thinking we can have, do and be anything. Once we take charge of our thinking and confront the fears, our fears disappear. We are only defeated when we don’t try. We are only defeated when we give up and quit.
Dare to achieve, accept the challenge then start.

Our supervisor recently made a casual
comment about my shaggy mane of hair. He
then went on to extol the virtues of a good
haircut, which, he insisted, makes an elderly
man look younger and a younger man seem
more mature.
“How would a haircut make a middle-aged man
like me appear?” I asked.
“Still employed,” he answered.
Tip
Are you the person you were meant to be? It is a very big question and one that requires a good lot of soul searching. You are who you are because of all the decisions you have made over a lifetime.
