I Have Been Thinking

“There is no try, there is only do.” – Yoda

Do you recall that statement from Yoda in Starwars? What is the logic behind that statement?  When we begin to do an action or process that we have never done before , isn’t the only thing we can do is “try”?  So, what is the real difference between “trying hard”  to do something, and actually doing it?  The big difference is committment.  How committed are you to stick to it until it is actually done and more important done to the expected result?

Trying wastes a lot of time. When your’re not committed to getting it done, you lack focus and effectivness.  

The quality of your life is ultimately determinded by the integrity of your actions.  It is always in your best interest to live a life of integrity.  What does that mean to you?   You will always earn exactly what you expect to earn. You can expect to earn more by becoming a more valuable person. How do you become a more valuable person?  I have discovered that it takes three things.

1. Live with integrity.  Treat others the way you want them to treat you
2. Live with purpose and you will have focus
3. Do every task as if your live depends on it, because in fact it does.

There are no shortcuts in life. You receive value by being a valuable person. Learn what is good and what is right, then put into action everything you learn. The abundance you enjoy is the abundance you create. It is a law that needs no enforcement because it cannot be broken. When you take advantage of others, you cheat yourself of the opportunity to provide real value. The opportunity to make a difference.

What truly is important to you?  What short term gain could possible equal the loss?  If life seems unfair to you, look at how you have been unfair to others.  If life is giving you all that you dreamed of, look at how you have given to life.  It is true that we reap what we sow, and what goes around comes around.

I loved  the way Zig Ziglar put it, “When you cast your bread to the waters, it comes back ham sandwiches.”

Glasses for Work

I came home from work last night exhausted. I
said to my wife, “I need my glasses checked.
I’m so nearsighted I nearly worked myself to
death.”

Perplexed, the wife asked, “What’s being
nearsighted got to do with working yourself to
death?”

“I couldn’t tell whether the boss was watching
me or not, so I had to work the whole time!”

Put your whole heart into doing the task at hand. Do it and do it right the first time.
