Thought For The Day

”How little people know who think that holiness is dull. When one meets the real thing…it is irresistable. If even 10 percent of the world’s population had it, would not the whole world be converted and happy before a year’s end?”

  -C. S. Lewis

I Have Been Thinking

What is happiness?  How is it attained?  I can tell you one thing with absolute certainty happiness comes from within not from without.  We have been talking about responsibility and control. Did you know you can be responsible for and control your own happiness?  It’s true.

Happiness first comes from enjoying the things that you do. Take on every task with gusto and joy and you will find yourself smiling. There are no small tasks, there are none too big to take on as long as you think you can – you can it is as simple as that.  The very second you allow doubt to creep in,  the law that “no two things can occupy the same space at the same time” takes over.

Happiness comes from being of service.  It is impossibe for the energy you put out not to come back to you eventually. It may take a while, and it may not come back in the way you had expected, but it will come back.

There is no way to turn on a light and remain in the darkness unless you are blind. Every watt of positive energy you emit will make the world around you much brighter.  The more you can add value you can add to the lives of others, the more your efforts will be multiplied. Give in abundance and you will have happiness in abundance.

Happiness comes from wanting what you have and taking enough pride in it to take care of it.  I often think of the Bible story about to him who has much more will be given, and to him that has little, even what he has will be taken away. Have you ever really considered what this means?  Invest your gifts and talents well and more will be given to you. You make your own luck as you learn you grow.  There is another saying, use it or lose it.  Well, isn’t that what the story is talking about. Don’t use your talents, don’t invest in yourself and others, don’t continue your education, don’t take care of what you have and what happens? That’s right, you have even less.

We we age, it becomes even more important to use what we have.  Continued learning is one way to keep a mind sharp and thinking.  Reaching a dream is not a matter of wishing, or talking. It requires action. You must build, and create and participate. Give of yourself, because the rewars is in the journey. The rewars is happiness.

Computer Programming

More and more computer science majors at
U.S. colleges are opting not to take
programming jobs after they graduate.

Not because they don’t want to work in the
computer industry, it’s just that they want to
spend a few more years in America
before having to move to India.

 Tip

When you are able to see every situation as an opportunity, when you quit complaining and use your time to get things done, then you will be powerful and effective. Anger and frustration creates a great amount of energy. The key to being successful is to learn to harness that negative energy and redirect it toward action and accomplishment.
