Thought For The Day
“The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes.”
– Marcel Proust
I Have Been Thinking
What haven’t I been thinking about. There are times when there is so much to do because we don’t seem to think everything out.
I moved from West Virginia to Florida. I thought “no more snow.” I thought, “bigger apartment, nicer surroundings” It is true. bigger apartment, but everything doesn’t fit exactly like it did in the smaller one. Go figure! Nicer surroundings? Absolutely, but I was just finding my way around in West Virginia and Maryland. With every change and every experience…
During our goals class (on Monday nights in the INL) we talk a lot about change. What do we really have to change to get what we want out of life? Most people that I have worked with and counceled would like to change things, but without changing their own habits. Let me tell you it just cannot be done.
We are the person we have practiced to be, E.E, Cummings said it quite wisely when he said,. “It takes courage to grow up and turn out to be who you really are.” So often we deny who we are or who we could be out of fear.
We have developed “habits” over a lifetime. Those habits can make us or break us not just today but throughout our lifetime if we don’t isolate the good habits from the bad. if you don’t like where you are or what you are doing with your life take stock ask yourself what needs to be changed?
A few examples:
Goal: I want to lose “X” number of pounds. I know that I need to change my eating habits and I need to exercise. What exactly do I need to change about me in order to accomplish the goal?
Goal: I want to earn an extra “X” number of dollars in the remaining 6 months of this year. I know I need to provide more value to people for which they are willing to exchange their valuable dollars for my valuable product. What exactly do I need to change about me in order to accomplish the goal?
Change does not come easy especially changes in habit. Why? As a human, as an individual one of the most difficult things to do is to “see” our bad habits. We want to be right in everything we do. We don’t want to be proven wrong. We don’t want to be criticized.
Change does not come easy because it takes specific actions to make the changes. It can be difficult to know exactly which actions to take. If we have been on the wrong road for so long, how do we get back on track?
If you want to feel good, you have to follow the doctor’s advice.

Baby Weight
Our Lamaze class included a tour of the pediatric wing of
the hospital. When a new baby was brought into the nursery,
all the women tried to guess its weight, but the guy
standing next to me was the only male to venture a number.
“Looks like 9 pounds,” he offered confidently.
“This must not be your first,” I said.
“Oh, yes,” he said. “It’s my first.”
“Then how would you know the weight of a baby?” I asked.
He shrugged. “I’m a fisherman.”
Tip
A Web page or Web site is basically a publication, though an interactive one. Thinking about a few simple principles now, before you start, can help make your Web page much more interesting and useful to the people who see it. When preparing a Web site, less is more. Saying something with less text makes users more likely to read and remember it.
