Thought For The Day

“If you have the courage to begin, you have the courage to succeed.”

– David Viscott

I Have Been Thinking

You cannot truly have something new without letting go of the old. A new job requires you to resign from the old one. A new house means that you must move out of your old one. A new version of your software creates files that can’t be opened by the old version.

Mailbox The easy and comfortable way is to stay with what we know, but if you are not moving forward, what is going on?  Right, you are falling behind.

What new things can you learn today? How can you imporve the way you do your work? How can you do things faster, with more accuracy?  In the current economy employers are working hard to do more with less.

All over the world people are asking themselves these questions, and many are discovering the answers lie in personal self development.  If your company is downsizing, how to you become so valuable the “boss” wouldn’t consider you in the mix?  Do you have skills that are marketable?

To embrace the new, you must be able to let go of the old. That means opening your mind, and losing your attachment to the old ways of doing things. Don’t take comfort in your routine. Instead, have confidence in your ability to adapt to the new and the untold opportunitis that await you.

What are the ten success killers?
1. Comparing yourself with someone else. The only one you should compare yourself to is yourself.
2. Not facing your fears. When you run into something that is stopping you, find out why it is stopping you and do something about it. Anything is better than nothing.
3. Leaving a job undone.  Every time you leave your work space, know that everything that came across you plate today is completed.
4. Feeling sorry for yourself.
5. Speaking like Ozzy Osbourne
6. Dressing like Anna Nicole Smith
7. Saying you hate computers
8. Not staying in touch with family and friends
9. Saying “I can’t”  A very wise teacher drummed into my head as a kid, “Can’t never did anything.”
10. Having more regrets than dreams.

Learn to be lucky
You have to make your own luck. You can by working hard and being open to opportunities.

Ice Breakers

Mailbox

A friend asked me to replace the rotted post
that her mail- box sat on, but to save the
beloved old box.

I managed to extract all but one of the rusty
nails in the bottom of the mailbox. To free the
last nail, I wrapped my arms around the box in
a bear hug and started yanking up. Just then a
truck came by, and the driver stuck his head out
the window…

“I tried that,” he said, “but the bills just keep on
coming.”

 Tip

Planning an office space means thinking about the way you work. Finding a place for everything  is as important to working efficiently as the ergonomics of the work space.
