Thought For The Day
“Become a possibilitarian. No matter how dark things seem to be or actually are, raise your sights and see possibilities – always see them, for they’re always there.”
Dr. Norman Vincent Peale
1898-1993, Author of The Power of Positive Thinking
I Have Been Thinking
I love that word “possibilitarian”, don’t you? What would it mean? I believe it means a person of possibilities. Or perhaps one who believes in possibilities. Each morning we have a new world open to us – a new world of new possibilities. I don’t understand why so many people wake up to the same ol, same ol. Every day is new.
How is it that people are trained to accept impossibilities? Yes, they are trained. Like the elephant who is trained to be a work animal. From the time he is small, he is tied to a post. Try that he may there is no getting away from that post. When he is grown, he knows there is no chance for escape.
What have become the things in your life that are the “post” from which there is no escape. Some people never try because they already know it is impossible. Some people give up too soon just because it got a little hard or they have to do something they have never done before. Yes, the technology can be challenging, but it isn’t impossible.
One of my students said, “it just seems that if you talk to new people about writing code (HTML code) that it is going to go right over their head. When talking about design and creating web pages, it is impossible to separate design from the code. I thought for a very long time what a good analogy would be and I finally came up with a good solution. I often compare the business to the human body. it is an organization of the various parts with each of them doing their own jobs that lead the the healthy functions of the body. What about this idea about the relationship to code and design. If you could think for just a minute that the body is the design. It is that part that we all see and recognize. The code is the skeleton. A body without a skeleton cannot stand. The two are not seperable if you are going to have a healthy body.
No, a new person to doing business on the Internet does not have to get into all of the techie stuff, but he does have to know enough to be able to read the code and know what it is doing.

Bachelor Cooking
Two confirmed bachelors were sitting and talking. Their
conversation drifted from sports to cooking.
“I got a cookbook once,” said the first, “but I could
never do anything with it.”
“Too much fancy cooking in it?” asked the second.
“You said it. Every one of the recipes began the same way,
‘Take a clean dish and…’”
