I Have Been Thinking

You can have anything from life that you want as long as you are willing to work for it. You can pray to win the lottery, but you will never win the lottery if you don’t buy the ticket. You have to be willing to risk a little to gain a lot.

Just because you want something doesn’t mean you should have it.  A five year old may want to drive, but that doesn’t mean he should. There is a time for everything but being patient for something to happen is not necessarily one of our strongest assets. It just seems that when we want something our five year old comes alive inside to want it now.

No matter what it is that we want we have to take many things into consideration. Thinking out the actions that have to be taken is just one side of  the equasion. How it will affect us as a person and the people we love is the other side of the equasion. There is a law in physics that states, “For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction”  Newton When one ventures out without thinking about the possible ramifications.

Ask yourself:
If I acquires ____ what would it do for me as an individual?
Would my spouce approve?  Is this a mutual goal or one of my own creation?
Will working toward ____ keep me from doing anything for which I am responsible?
Can I do _____ without hurting anyone in the process?

There are times when the answers to these questions has to come from deep inside and they don’t come easily.  I adopted another philosophy early in my business career. I very much have a temptation to spend money I don’t really have to spend. It is very easy for me to go into debt. So I adopted the philosophy, when in doubt, go without.  This has helped me stay debt free. It has also helped me to save for the big purchases so that I can have what I want without going into debt to get it. I have also found that if there is a real need for something, I get an extra job out of the blue that wasn’t expected so I have the money for that which I need.

You will have to adopt your own philosophies that you can live with. You have to decide what is important for you and your family. It will be different for every person and every business. While the questions remain the same, the answers to them come out of your own values and beliefs.

Is It Raining

A flight attendant was on the red-eye to Manila when a
water leak developed in the galley, which eventually
soaked the carpet throughout the cabin of the 747.

A very sleepy passenger who had become aware of the
dampness asked the attendant, “Has it been raining?”

Keeping a straight face, the attendant replied, “Yes,
but we put the top up.”

With a sigh of relief, the passenger went back to
sleep.

 

 Tip

 

You can inspire anyone to be a winner if your heart is in the right place. Think of what’s in it for him, put yourself in his shoes first.
