Confront and Clarify

Good Morning!

I must have an incredible lesson to learn because everything I have done in the last two days has been wrong. When you venture into the unknown I guess one should expect running into barriers even when one has been working for the last ummmmmm forever. One thing I can say for sure the barriers I am running into now have no resemblance to anything I have ever done before. Believe me, I am keeping notes every step of the way. Thomas Edison said, “there is only one way to create a light bulb, I have just found 10,000 ways not to.” He also kept journals outlining each try and each failure so he wouldn’t try the same thing twice. It is the best way I have ever found to follow your own tracks. It is the best way not to run in circles.

Just wanted to let you know the New Homeland Security Bill has passed. Things will be different now and Internet surfing as you know it will be tracked by what the FBI calls a ‘non-intrusive method.’ The FBI says you will not notice anything different.

Getting people on track with a project can sometimes become the challenge of the century. In my years of working with managers, supervisors and staff the problem comes down to two things:

1. Either the manager, the supervisor or the staff has another agenda or understanding of the project purpose so as a result there is a know best attitude that rears it’s ugly head. Often this attitude is sub-conscious, the individual concerned may not even realize it is there.

2. Procrastination, the symptoms will show up with avoidance, denial, lack of energy, half hearted attempts. You will hear, “I can’t” or “I haven’t time now”, or even “I have other responsibilities.”
Confront and clarify is the only solution to this kind of situation. It takes more communication not less. It takes one thing everyone can agree on then start there.

Happy designing!
