Happy Halloween!!

Halloween – my favorite holiday! I absolutely love the costumes and the fun and excitement of the day. I am really sorry to see it being outlawed in many of the schools and it is so sad to see that it has become a dangerous time for children just because of a few sick-o’s out there in the world.

I can remember some times when my children were little, we would invite their friends from school over to the house for a party. It was safe and they could have a very good time. One year we decided to go up to the foothills for our party. Our next door neighbor decided the she and a few friends would go up over the hill to scare the kids (teens by this time.) We were roasting hot dogs and toasting marshmallow’s on the fire, when the three of them came over the hill sounding like wolves or something. One of the boys jumped over the fire and into my lap. We had a great time and I still smile every time I think about it.

The White House Ghosts

One night, George W. Bush is tossing restlessly in his White House
bed. He awakens to see George Washington standing by him. Bush asks
him, “George, what’s the best thing I can do to help the country?”

“Set an honest and honorable example, just as I did,” Washington
advises and then fades away.

The next night, Bush is astir again and sees the ghost of Thomas
Jefferson moving through the darkened bedroom. Bush calls out, “Tom,
please! What is the best thing I can do to help the country?”

“Respect the Constitution, as I did,” Jefferson advises and dims from sight.

The third night sleep is still not in the cards for Bush. He awakens
to see the ghost of FDR hovering over his bed. Bush whispers,
“Franklin, what is the best thing I can do to help the country?”

“Help the less fortunate, just as I did,” FDR replies and fades into the mist.

Bush isn’t sleeping well the fourth night when he sees another figure
moving in the shadows. It is the ghost of Abraham Lincoln. Bush
leads, “Abe, what is the best thing I can do right now to help the country?”

Lincoln replies, “Go see a play.”
