Thought For The Day
Obstacles don’t have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.

I Have Been Thinking
I have a widget on my iGoogle that touts itself as saying it is useless information. Today, my useless infomation read “In June 1946, NBC-TV and Gillette staged what they billed as the first “television sports extravaganza”: the Joe Louis Billy Conn heavyweight fight at Yankee Stadium. The fight was a huge viewing success, with an estimated audience of 150,000 watching on just 5,000 sets. For every TV set tuned in to the fight, there was an average of 30 people watching. Many were seeing a sporting event on television for the first time.
For most of you, 1946 is the olden days. It kinda was for me too since I was only four years old, but I had to look twice. 150,000 people watched on 5,000 sets. I didn’t even realize there was television until I was about ten and we were the first in our neighborhood to get one of those picture boxes in our living room.
It took a letter 2 – 3 weeks to get from New York to California just 100 years ago. That same letter would have taken 3 days by “snail mail” and now we have instant mail using such applications as Skype and AOLs IM. The newspaper was the way everyone knew what was going on in the world and we all know how biased the news is. Now, newspapers are going out of business all over the globe. In some way’s that is very good because that means less paper is being used.
The world got smaller with the radio and news began to travel even faster that ever before, but with television not only do you have to sound great, but look great too. I believe it was FDR that started his fireside chats thus becoming the most well known President of all time. Our current President used the infinite power of the web to reach and connect with those that put him in office. Can you imagine he even had to fight to keep his Blackberry.
We are one very blessed people. We can talk to one another openly and without censureship and now faster than ever before.

Pilots
My husband works in the fuels squadron at an Air Force
base, and many of his co-workers complain about the
superior attitude of the pilots.
One day the fuel guys decided to put things in perspective
for the proud pilots. They all came to work wearing shirts
inscribed, “Without fuel, pilots are pedestrians.”
