I Have Been Thinking

In all the years that I have been on the Internet, one of the biggest questions of all is “How do I promote my site?”  This week I want to tackle this question with some straight answers and some of the resources that I have found most helpful.

The first and by far one of the most effective methods of promotion is Article Writing. What do you write about? You write about those things that interest you and you post them to places where there are people that have the same interests. You will find there are people with the same interests as you. There are two parts of your article that are key a) the title – if the title doesn’t grab the person’s attention then nothing else matters. Then b) the resource box. Stop talking about how great you are, but let people know if they found something of interest in “this” article they can find more by you at ___. Does this take time? Of course it does. Does this cost anything? No. Come on join us in the Article writing challenge. Get the tools you need and get into the habit of writing every day

The biggest fall icy, “build it and they will come.” Building a business on the web is just the beginning. When you build a business in the real world, you try to find a location that will get you noticed. You put up signs that will get you noticed. You place ads in the newspaper that will get you noticed. You network in every way that you can to get yourself known in the business community. It is just beyond my ability to think with the fact that so many people think they can put a business on the Internet that will just automatically get them noticed. Hey guys there are millions of sites out there that are all clamoring for attention. Your little site is just another site among all the others. You still have to get out there are promote your business on the virtual world in much the same way as you do in the real world.

Part of my job is to help folks just like you get their site on line then help them to make it profitable. I do this through cwinsonline. There is no substitute for a well designed one of a kind website. My job is to design the site, get it on line, then teach my clients how to maintain that site easily. So many people what a business online but they really don’t want to have to learn all the technology that goes along with it. They don’t want to learn that anymore than they want to get under the hood of their car, they just want it to take them where they want to go, them back home again.

A newsletter is another way to “talk to people.” I get so many that are nothing but advertising. I write every day with the hope that I am talking with my readers, not just trying to sell them something. A newsletter should give some kind of news.  Does it take time? Of course it does. Does it cost anything? No, but just like a website, it has to be promoted.
