Involvement

Good Morning!
I Have Been Thinking
There is a proverb and I am afraid that I am going to have to paraphrase this one: Tell me, and I will forget Show me, and I might remember Involve me, and I will understand.
Have you ever heard that one? Nothing could be more applicable to presentation than this!
With the information age, you know you are exposed to so much it is IMPOSSIBLE to take it all in. We do we have to pick and choose what we want to see, to hear and unfortunately that leads to making mistakes.
It has been estimated that the average person is exposed to 2600 messages each and every day. I honestly believe it could be a whole lot more than that. I know I must trash at least 1000 UCE every day.
Can you involve people in your presentations? How?
This is very much a reason that VOIP conferences are becoming more popular than the old phone conferences. This is very much a reason videos for training are becomeing more and more abundant. It is so much easier to show you than it is to tell you. When I train, I get my student in the conference room as the moderator then I can walk them through “fixing” the problem – that does involve them and they remember.

The Double-Cross
A bunch of lawyers were sitting around the office playing poker. “I win!” said Johnson, at which point Henderson threw down his cards.
“That’s it! I’ve had it! Johnson is cheating!!!”
“How can you tell?” Phillips asked.
“Those aren’t the cards I dealt him!”
