Signature Files

Thought For The Day
“Words can never adequately convey the incredible impact of our attitudes toward life. The longer I live the more convinced I become that life is 10 percent what happens to us and 90 percent how we respond to it.”

Signature Files

Signature files can be great fun, they can also do a lot for your marketing efforts. In a real world store your window displays are your silent salesman. In your virtual store you signature files serve the same purpose.

Signature files can be something as short and sweet as my friend Ardyth sends. It is simply
Ardyth
Retired
You know who she is and what she does. LOL

Your signature file can be crafted to be your eMail business card. They should include a name or nickname depending on what people call you. Your web URL (Please use only one at the most two) and phone or Skype number. If you are going to be in business for gosh sakes make sure people can contact you.

Signatures in E-mails

You will be communicating with several “groups” of people depending on what you are doing. In marketing you might have:
1. Prospects
2. Associates
3, Affiliates
4. Customers
5. Personal
And maybe even more. Craft your signature to speak to that group. I wouldn’t send a customer to a page for a prospect the audience is just not the same.

Signatures are not all created the same

Prospect signature files might send a reader to a sales page that may be of interest to them or in an autoresponder it could ask them to take the next step to the next level.

Many signatures will even include pictures so they are extra visible.

Writing a resource box

A resource box is also a type of signature file. When someone has just read an article by you and liked the information they received, the signature file will give them the option to learn more from you. Let them know how they can do that.

Easily using signatures with Automator

Some email clients will allow you to add signature files automatically. I use Courier on my desktop and can have any number of signature files.

When setting up an autoresponder system, a different signature file can be put in each message series.

If you don’t want to end up cutting and pasting the signature file every time you send a message I recommend a little tool called automaton available free from the Lab when you join as a member. Another tool is TypeItIn from WaveGet. It is a commercial tool but very inexpensive. The time saving is well worth the investment IMHO.

Ice Breakers

Fishing on Sunday

A village pastor, known for his weakness for trout, preached
against fishing on Sunday.

The next day one of his members presented him with a fine
string of fish and said, hesitatingly, “I guess I ought to
tell you, parson, that those trout were caught on Sunday.”

The minister hesitated, gazed appreciatively at the speckled
trout, and then said piously as he reached for his gift, “The
fish aren’t to blame for that.”

 Tip

Most web sites promoting free internet advertising have features like classified ads submitter – where you can get a enormous exposure with instant results and expand your sales by large volumes over night,  opt-in email lists – non spam bulk email program, guaranteed 100% legal. Opt-in email lists are created by people who have volunteered or ‘opted-in’ their email addresses to these lists. These lists are very effective for creating personalized email to prospective clients. Using an auto-responder service is key to building a list that is 100% optin.  There is a free service available, but the paid service is extremely inexpensive.
